Well, maybe not antelope, but for sure elk. Many, many years ago my Grandpa purchased burial plots in the tiny town my from which my Grandma is from. The cemetery is old and "naturally kept" meaning they don't do any real maintenance. While he was at it, he purchased enough plots for all his children. My mother grew up near that town as well so she also wants to be buried there. When she reminded me about this I protested.
"Mom, it is sooo far away, NO one will visit you".
To which my very very outdoorsy uncle butted in, " Beth- there is deer scat on the graves, you DON'T need anyone to visit you".
I rolled my eyes, until I actually got there... and now I must agree. It is a beautiful place to end up. Besides, you will be in very very good company!
My mother, her brothers and a sister, her cousin, an uncle and a few of my brothers were pall bearers.
When you are buried where ranchers are buried... guests please dress accordingly... love the jeans!
My brother #4 conducted the graveside service. I am so proud of the grown ups my brothers have become. We were able to say a few words about Grandpa at the site.
Things that were said...
Grandpa never met a stranger.
To Grandma and Grandpa blood doesn't define relations (this was a summery)
Grandpa was kind, ornery and fun
My sweet little niece (in the salmon/orange shirt) said it best...
" I love Grandpa, Grandpa loves me, he loves Dad and Mom and Auntie. I will miss Grandpa."
My mom and some siblings and her favorite cousins!
My Grandma and her little brother.
