When my uncles as teens showed serious promise with their carpentry skills, my grandpa told them he wanted them to build his coffin (apparently that is where Dracula dwells) casket for him when the time came.
The week between my his death and burial was one of my most cherished weeks so far.
My brothers and Uncle Dan designed and built a beautiful casket.
During that week, the grandchildren were given the opportunity to contribute by sanding.
I was able to be there to take photos and share in this labor of love.
We may or may not have caused some serious rubber necking in the neighborhood...
My darling cousins and their babies!
My brother #6 and his Chubalub
We start em young with the power tools.
Pyrotechnics are always an added bonus!
Is that #5? Whoa... he must really love Grandpa, I think this is manual labor!
I love this one, my Uncle Dan absolutely loves the kiddos and he loved his Dad.
As an added Tribute and because that's how we roll, My brother #4 painted this picture of my Grandparent's very first brand new car. They then put it in the lid of the casket.
My out of town sibs! xxoo
Don't worry Petcharoo did her part too!
