Mother Dear I love you So!

Mom, I know you never read my blog... Ironic because I know you are my biggest fan. I just want to share with the world a little portion of my gratitude for you.

(Tragically the people who mean the most, you often tell the least.)

Mom you are my hero because
You are happy. I know I get my optimism from you, you are the most happy person I know. The very fact that your life is not easy and you can still be so very happy is amazing to me.

You are so easy to tease, I know I should feel bad about teasing you, but let's face it.... I learned  "See my Pinky? Gee you're stinky! See my thumb? Gee you're dumb!"... from you, and being called a "Brat" was a term of endearment... along with "I love you so much.... when you are sleeping".

That said, I was always  taught never to label a child, never to call them names... "There is no such thing as a 'bad girl', just a girl who does 'bad things'."  I have a vivid memory of being in a line at school and there was a child who was dawdling along. The teacher yelled back for him to "hurry up slow poke". You were horrified  that a teacher called one of the students a "slow poke".  "Children live up to what they are called". I always knew you loved all children unconditionally.

I believed I actually was "the prettiest girl in the world" until Jr High educated me in the ways of the world, because you told me so.

You are not a hypocrite. You are not controlling. I knew you wanted us to go to church because you loved the gospel. You loved the Book of Mormon. We believed because you did. I believe now because you have taught me how.  I knew the fact that you required me to always go to church (even if I didn't want to) wasn't about making sure you looked like a good mom. You love Jesus Christ and the scriptures and you wanted me to as well.

You know the stories in the scriptures so well. You did not go to much primary as a child and I don't think you were taught the bible stories either, yet you know them all. You can tell them in a way that fascinates the little ones. I loved being on a primary lesson in a different ward one week later than you. I knew I could always steal your ideas and backdrops. The kids loved me for it.

You can make anything out of papier mache and cardboard.

I know that "You can't spoil a child with Love". &  "It's not what you want that makes you fat. It's what you get!".  I also know for some weird reason  "If you see Libby's Libby's Libby's on the label label label, You will like it like it like it on the Table Table Table."

You are a little bit naughty. Ok... you are a lot naughty. You will be grumpy that I said that for all the world to hear!  You aren't afraid of authority (the police)  and you do what you want to do.
You are a fabulous T.P.er and Shopping Cart racer.
You never (shifty eyes) cheat at cards... and you are always a gracious winner.... (raised brow).

Because of you I know that "People are people and things are things".  You love people more than things.

I get a kick out of your sincere love of Chickens. When you told me about your poor little hen who is just sitting and sitting on unfertilized eggs who just needs babies, it reminded me of Aunt Faye (the cow whisperer).  I was not in the least surprised that you purchased fertilized eggs for her to sit on... and how fitting that they hatched the day before Mother's day. It was like Christmas for you. I am sure that you are right... "Chickens are healthier when raised by a mother, rather than under a heat lamp".

I also am grateful that you love my little Petcharoo... and indulge my silliness by letting her photo go on the grandkid wall.

Mom you are strong. You are one of the strongest women in the world. As Steven has said you are a great "boys mom" because "Have you ever seen any Moms work as hard as our mom?"  No, no I haven't. You grow tomatoes and flowers and trees, work full time, lay flooring clean clean clean, mow lawns, drive kids, cook meals,  take care of grumpy old men and still find time to spend Fridays and Saturdays with your babies. As many babies as daughters will drop off.  Each one is so perfect and each one is so cute and you love spending time with each one.

I wish everyone reading this could have a moment with a mother like you Mom. I have been blessed, I have been lucky and I have been loved because you are my Mother.

Beth! Wow...that was so beautiful! Now, I will not only have the usual Mothers Day guilt when we hear all the wonderful mom stories in sacrament meeting, but I will also have Daughters guilt for not giving my mother as sweet and personal a tribute as you have given yours. : )
I loved it! My aunt-in-law is so cool.
